National Day of Service and Remembrance

Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Highland Stake,

The 9/11 Day of Service is a federally recognized National Day of Service and Remembrance and is the largest annual charitable day of service in our country. It is anticipated that more than 40 million people in the United States will participate this year. I love this opportunity for us — all faiths, all political persuasions, all neighborhoods — people join and do something that we can care about: making our communities better!” – Sister Sharon Eubank, President of Latter-Day Saint Charities.

The church is encouraging all of us to serve in whatever ways we can on Monday September 11th or sometime during the weeks of September. We invite you to prayerfully consider what you and your family, friends, ward members and neighbors can do with a focus on finding service opportunities at JustServe.org; please visit this site, click on “Projects” and enter 83201 to find service opportunities here in our community. JustServe.org is a website provided as a service by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where the volunteer needs of organizations are posted, and volunteers search for opportunities to enhance the quality of life in the community.

We would love to hear about your service experiences and encourage you to share what you did and how your service helped others and blessed you.  Please click on this Google Form to share your experiences; this feedback is anonymous unless you choose to share your name.  You can also share on our stake’s Instagram account (highlandstakeneighbors) and Facebook page (Pocatello Highland Stake Neighbors).

We have often been humbled in the past by your willingness to sacrifice and serve our brothers and sisters in the Pocatello/Chubbuck Community. We look forward to the outpouring of Christlike love you will share this year on this important day.

We thank you in advance and express our love for you!

Sincerely,
