Stake Basketball and Board Games

Members of the Pocatello Highland Stake,

We are starting youth basketball and board games again!

Please read the following changes to our activities (held at the stake center):

  • This year we are making teams “co-ed”, meaning that both young men and young women can play.
  • Youth who participate need to be turning 14 this year up to 18 years old.
  • We will have one week of “open gym” before we start the basketball season.
  • Open gym, regular season games, and the tournament will be held on FRIDAY nights.
  • Open gym and basketball games do not take the place of regular weekly ward YM’s and YW’s activities.
  • The initial open gym will be held on Friday March 7th from 7pm-9pm. We invite all who want to participate to come!
  • We will start our regular season on Friday March 21st. We are in the process of creating a schedule and will be announcing the schedule in the coming week.
  • Board games will be available for youth opting not to play basketball in a designated room, as well!

Important rules to be aware of:

  • Bishops, please assign someone from your ward to coach the team.
  • Bishops, please let us know if you have enough youth to fill your own team OR if we need to combine you with another ward. Please let us know by Sunday March 9th.
  • If you are the “Home” team, we will need you to provide a scorekeeper and game-clock manager during the game.
  • You can invite anyone to play on your ward’s team as long as they live within the boundaries of your ward AND they are turning 14 this year up to 18. They do not have to be members of the church to participate. We encourage non-member participation!
  • We would like each bishopric to send us a roster prior to the first game (March 21st).
  • Our goal is to not turn anyone away from church basketball. We would like to keep things fair, competitive, and fun for all of the youth. Please abide by these few simple rules.
  • We look forward to a fun season ahead. Thank you for all you do. See you at open gym in one week!
