Dear Highland Stake Friends,

We invite you to join together for a FamilySearch Fair to be held on Saturday, November 4th from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the Highland Stake Center. We are offering many classes on how to work in FamilySearch. You may choose four classes which last 20 to 25 minutes each. You can stay in one class a second time if desired. These classes will be taught by our Ward Temple and Family History Leaders in the various classrooms and include the following topics:

  • Creating and Setting up you Family Search Account
  • Completing your Four-Generation Tree / Add Names to Tree
  • Finding an Ancestor Ordinance in your Tree
  • Reserving Names in FamilySearch
  • Processing Duplicates and Standardizing Vital Information
  • Submitting Names to the Church Temple File
  • Adding a Memory to your Tree, including Profile Pictures
  • Basic Research Help and Sourcing
  • Intermediate Research to Find Original Records
  • Using Ordinances Ready and Printing Ordinance Cards
  • Indexing
  • Writing your Family History
  • FamilySearch Fun Activities

We encourage you to try to have your FamilySearch accounts created before you come. If not, you can learn how to do so when you are there. Also, you may bring your laptops or mobile devices.

Please invite family members, neighbors, friends, those you minister to, etc. This information will soon be posted on our Highlandstake.org website under the “Upcoming Events” tab and on our social media sites, so you can easily share the links with others.

President Nelson has taught that the “Gathering Israel on both sides of the veil is the most important thing we can be doing. He said “when we speak of gathering Israel on both sides of the veil, we are referring, of course, to missionary, temple, and family history work. Anytime we do anything that helps anyone—on either side of the veil—to make and keep their covenants with God, we are helping to gather Israel.”

May the Spirit of Elijah touch your hearts to learn more about how to do this sacred work to help gather Israel and to redeem our dead.

Sincerely,

Brother Joseph Noorda, High Councilor
Sister Debbie Greco, Stake Temple and Family History Consultant
President Chris Sanford, Stake Presidency 1st Counselor
